Family meetings can sound much more formal than they need to be.
Sometimes a family simply needs somewhere to talk about what’s happening, hear one another properly, make a decision, or work something out together.
That’s why we created Our Family Connects.
It isn’t a system for running the perfect family meeting. It’s a simple guide you can pick up when your family needs a little structure.
You’ll find a flexible meeting format, simple roles family members can take, conversation prompts, and the CALM approach for those moments when something needs working through.
And everyone doesn’t have to sit around a table looking terribly official. You might use it over breakfast, on a walk, in the car, or for ten minutes before everyone disappears into the rest of the evening.
Some meetings may be about something practical. Some may be about a disagreement. Sometimes you may simply want to know what has been taking up everyone’s headspace lately.
The point isn’t to become brilliant at family meetings.
The point is to make room for people to speak, be heard, work things out and remember that they belong to one another.
Use what helps. Adapt what doesn’t. And when the conversation is finished, put the guide down and get back to your actual family.
That was the point.

Why Unburdened Family exists
Unburdened Family creates resources for the real moments that shape people and families. The work is grounded in a Christian understanding of human dignity, while meeting people with clarity, practical help and room to grow.
UF resources support reflection and practical growth. They do not replace medical, mental-health, legal, financial, safeguarding or other appropriate professional and specialist support.
Recognise what is happening without reducing a person to the problem.
Choose practical support that fits the moment and respects each person’s dignity and agency.
Carry what helps into ordinary life, revisiting and adjusting as the family changes.
